چکیده

After oneand two-colour ps-excitation the transient absorption of rose bengal, erythrosin B and eosin Y in the spectral range from 450 to 670 nm was probed using picosecond continuum pulses generated in H2O—D 2 O mixture. Our experiments showed for all dyes a high T1—Tn absorption signal above 590 nm where no ground state absorption occurs. These excited triplet states can be effectively populated by a delayed second pump pulse. Their properties with special attention to reverse intersystem crossing processes from Tn to Sx are discussed.

Picosecond Fluorescence Studies of Xanthene Dyes

Subnanosecond lifetime measurements using picosecond pulses from a mode locked Nd3+/glass laser together with conventional absorption and fluorescence yield methods have been used to study the photophysics of fluorescein and three of its halogenated derivatives (eosin, erythrosin, and rose bengal) in aqueous and simple alcoholic solvents. For each of the dye molecules absorption and fluorescenc...

Photophysics of xanthene dyes in surfactant solution.

The spectral (both absorption and fluorescence) and photoelectrochemical studies of some anionic xanthene dyes namely erythrosine B, rose bengal and eosin have been carried out in micellar solution of cationic cetyl trimethyl ammonium bromide (CTAB), anionic sodium dodecyl sulphate (SDS) and neutral triton X-100 (TX-100). The results show that all these dyes form 1:1 electron-donor-acceptor (ED...

Toxicity of Xanthene Food Dyes by Inhibition of Human Drug-Metabolizing Enzymes in a Noncompetitive Manner

The synthetic food dyes studied were rose bengal (RB), phroxine (PL), amaranth, erythrosine B (ET), allura red, new coccine, acid red (AR), tartrazine, sunset yellow FCF, brilliant blue FCF, and indigo carmine. First, data confirmed that these dyes were not substrates for CYP2A6, UGT1A6, and UGT2B7. ET inhibited UGT1A6 (glucuronidation of p-nitrophenol) and UGT2B7 (glucuronidation of androstero...

Peroxidase-catalyzed co-oxidation of indole-3-acetic acid and xanthene dyes in the absence of hydrogen peroxide.

The effect of xanthene dyes on the chemiluminescence from the aerobic indole-3-acetic acid (IAA) oxidation, catalyzed by horseradish peroxidase (HRP), was studied. The rate of IAA oxidation and dye destruction were controlled. It was found that the addition of dyes to the IAA/HRP/O2 system resulted in: (i) the appearance of emission in the region of dye fluorescence, (ii) an increase of the tot...

Synthesis of new asymmetric xanthene dyes via catalyst-free S(N)Ar with sulfur nucleophiles.

Addition of a single functional handle to the tricyclic moiety of fluorescein results in asymmetric xanthene dyes. Our synthesis of a new class of asymmetric xanthenes proceeds via an unusual SNAr with sulfur nucleophiles on electron rich aromatic xanthenes scaffolds in the absence of a metal catalyst. The resulting 3'-thioethers exhibit high photostability and are conveniently converted into r...
